The Delhi University Teachers Association (DUTA) has called for an alternative method of assessment for the semester exam amid the second wave of Covid-19 transition from DU administration.

According to media reports, in a letter addressed to Acting VC PC Joshi, DUTA said that in view of the damage caused by the second wave of the pandemic, the university should review its decision regarding the examinations.

In its letter, the DUTA stated that due to the kind of losses families have suffered, we feel that the university should review the decision regarding examinations for final semester / year students.

The alternative mode adopted for Continuing students can also be adopted for terminal semester students.

DU already postponed final year exam on may 2021

Earlier this month, DU announced the postponement of final year / final semester examinations for 15 days. The exam was supposed to be held from May 15, but will now start from June 1.

The exam will conduct in open mode in online mode. At the same time, the teacher body has said that the university should use its energy in declaring the results of the pending fifth semester, so that the students can get the degree on time.

The letter also stated that the university should pursue the matter with the UGC and the Ministry of Education.

The teacher body said that the students of the colleges were not in a position to submit internal assessments due to their mental stress and family situations.
