UGC Approved Online Program: 38 Universities got UGC permission to conduct online program

(University Grants Commission UGC), UGC has approved online degree programs to 38 universities across the country. After the release of the list, now 38 universities can start the full-flage online program even without the permission of the UGC.

According to UGC Approved Online Program, out of the total universities offering online degree courses, 15 are deemed universities, 13 are state universities and three are central universities. Apart from this, three private universities including OP Jindal Global University, Chandigarh University and Manipal University are also involved. Including all these institutions, 171 courses have been approved so far.

At the same time, Tamil Nadu has the maximum number of 11 institutes, in which 72 courses have been approved. Thus Tamil Nadu has become the only state where maximum number of institutions have been sanctioned.

While in Central Universities, Central Universities like Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) will offer Master of Arts (Education) and Master of Arts (Public Administration) courses in online mode. Apart from this, Jawaharlal Nehru University will start four online degree programs with Master of Arts in Sanskrit and Mizoram University. At the same time, Jammu University will start online courses of Master of Arts (English) and Master of Commerce in completely online mode.

It is worth noting that due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the UGC had already allowed students to offer online up to 40 per cent of a common syllabus to help them with their studies. At the same time, for more information in this regard, students can visit the official website of UGC.
