After taking admission in UG, PG course in first year, if you want to cancel it, or have done it, then the concerned university will refund you the full fees. The University Grants Commission (UGC) has issued a new directive in this regard.
The UGC has stated that ‘in the present situation many parents are going through financial crisis due to lockdown and other related reasons. In such a situation, if a student (who has taken admission in UG or PG course this year) withdraws his / her admission for any reason, then the university concerned will have to refund the entire fee.
UGC has written that ‘Students who cancel admission / migration by 30 November 2020 will get full fees back. Universities cannot charge cancellation charges even for one rupee. Whereas, students who cancel the admission till 31 December 2020 will have to pay 1000 rupees as processing fee. That is, they will be refunded the remaining amount after deducting Rs 1000 from the fees they have paid.
Issuing this guideline, the UGC has said that ‘this directive will be applicable to all universities in the country. The commission has taken this decision after several students and parents complained about non-refund of fees by private universities. Universities that do not follow this instruction, strict action will be taken against them.
