Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and other Union Ministers, Minister of State for Education, Education Ministers and Education Secretaries of various states, discussed about of pending board exams of 12th in the virtual meeting.

CBSE’s 12th exams will conduct according to media reports.

Will Exam format change in 12th board?

The format of the examination can be changed. The announcement of dates for examinations and exam pattern will announce by CBSE board on 1 June 2021. Similarly, entrance examinations (JEE Main, NEET etc.) will conduct as per the information received.

Along with this, the Central Government appealed to the states to share detailed suggestions on the conduct of board examinations.

States will share suggestions by 25 May for 12 class examination

According to Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal, the meeting was very positive and we got many important suggestions. We have appealed to all the states to share their detailed suggestions by 25 May”.

Two options to the states for the 12th board Exam

First Option

The students of class 12 will have to appear in the examination of some selected subjects and on the basis of performance in these subjects marks will be issued for other remaining subjects.

Second Option

  • Examinations can be conducted for the students of class 12. But the exam pattern will have to be changed.
  • It will have a single paper of 1.5 hours instead of the traditional 3 hours.
  • Different types of questions and it will consist of only multiple choice questions.

Many states opposed of 12 class exam

The Delhi Education Minister, while sharing information about the meeting, said that many states opposed organizing any type of examination and demanded ‘zero exam’ by these states.

The Education Minister said that these states were of the opinion that all the candidates should be vaccinated before conducting the board exams as well as JEE and NEET examinations.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is reviewing the situation arising out of COVID-19 and will decide to conduct the Class 12 board examination on 1 June. The National Council of CBSE Schools has demanded the cancellation of the Class 12 exams including the Parents’ Association, urging Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ not to cancel the board examinations, but to conduct them.

As you know, CBSE board exams of class 12th were scheduled to start from May 4 and run till June 14, 2021. CBSE had announced the news of postponement of class 12th, saying that the board would review the situation and take a decision on 1 June. The board also said that it will release the board examination dates of the new class 12th at least 15 days before the commencement of the examination.

National Council of CBSE Schools demand to cancel 12th class exam

According to reports, General Secretary of the National Council of CBSE Schools, Indira Rajan said, “We feel that the exam should be conducted even if the exam is delayed, even if we have to use the alternative exam pattern”. “The decision to conduct the examination will solve the concern of both the students and parents, there are many students who want to enroll in a good professional institute after 12th standard.”

PIL filed in Supreme Court for CBSE Exam 2021

On May 18, a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) has also been filed in the Supreme Court against the cancellation of the CBSE Class 12 board exam, a teacher from Kerala, Tony Joseph, said in his petition that canceling the examination would be an unfair decision. The petition stated, “Class 12th examination is an integral part of a student’s life and is important for admission to higher educational institutions”
