SOL Extended last date for admission in DU SOL till 31st December 2020

There is good news for students studying with open distance learning. University Grants Commission has extended the application date for open distance learning and online mode by one month, December 31. Earlier, the last date for application for SOL (School of Open Learning) was 30 November.

Till November 30, only 86 thousand students took admission in DU. This number is about 55 thousand less than last year. Please tell that admission for the seventh cutoff and special drive is yet to be done in DU. SOL is an option for those who will not get admission here.

School of Open Learning has extended the last date for the admission in UG till 31st December 2020.

The examination branch says that if poor internet connectivity or any technical problem comes, then the student should submit his answer sheet even after the elapsed time.

He will also have to give documentary evidences of delay. The maximum time limit for submitting a late answer sheet will be 60 minutes.

In the Open Book Exam (OBE) of Delhi University, question papers will be sent to the differently-abled students by email and they will also be able to send the answer sheet through email.

These students have been given the option of both uploading and sending by email in the answer sheet portal.

However, the option to send the answer sheet by email has not been given to the other students this time, because the OBE in August-September, because of this option, the examination branch was sent to many students through the answer sheet portal as well as 3 to 4 email IDs. Was found, which caused a lot of trouble.

At the same time, DU undergraduate and postgraduate semester examinations are starting from December 12 and due to this, DU’s examination branch has issued guidelines for disabled students. Divyang (Pwd) students will be given 6 hours to complete the exam.

2 hours extra

Looking at Covid-19, semester exam open book examinations are taking place in both modes – physical and online. Divyang students will get 6 hours for the exam.
To complete the three-hour exam, one hour extra time (20 minutes extra for every hour in the OBE’s three-hour format), one hour question paper will be available to download, answer sheet scan and upload the sheets and one more hour of special provision.
Also, students who need a scrub for examination or need a device / internet facility, the college will provide this facility. The remaining students will be given four hours.

Scribe will be found, apply

Visually impaired students will be given the facility to type exams in the computer. DU has stated that if Divyang (Pwd) students want ICT infrastructure (device / net) facility from college / department / faculty / institute for paper download and uploading of sheets,
they will be allowed on condition of adhering to social distancing. Students will also be provided with the facility of scribe on demand.

For this, they have to send the application to the Principal / Head / Dean / Director by 9 December. The college / department / faculty / institute will have to provide an email ID for this on their website. Students can inform their nodal officer about their confusion or problem.

DU Provisional Certificate

DU Student who wants a Digital provisional certificate can apply through DU Portal.

For issuing DU Provisional Certificate, the student will have to submit a fee of ₹ 500 per copy online. After depositing the fees, the student will get a receipt, which will have a number.

Students will have to apply online to get a provisional certificate from Delhi University. On Monday, the university issued a notice advising students to fill the online form by visiting the examination portal on DU’s website to get a provisional certificate.

These are the following steps for download DU Provisional Certificate

  1. Fill the online form by the DU Online portal (http://app.du.ac.in/mig_pro/)
  2. In this portal upload the soft copy of the photograph and scanned signature.
  3. Upload the soft copy of Mark-sheet or result.
  4. Deposit online fee of ₹ 500/- per copy for the issuance of Provisional Certificate.
  5. After completion of online process including the payment fee, candidate will receive the acknowledgment receipt along with a Receipt number.
  6. It means the request of candidate for issuance of Provisional Certificate has been provisionally accepted subject to verification.
  7. In case of non-receipt of the acknowledgment, send a copy of the duly filled online application, fee receipt, along with all uploaded documents and email to certificate@exam1.du.ac.in
  8. The provisional certificate will be issued within ten days subject to the verification of the documents submitted.

Students have to upload their photo and scanned signature. Also, a soft copy of the marksheet and the result will have to be uploaded. For issuing provisional certificate, the student will have to submit a fee of ₹ 500 per copy online. After depositing the fees, the student will get a receipt, which will have a number.

If the acknowledgment receipt is not received, the copy of the online application and fee receipt along with the rest of the document will have to be e-mailed to the student on certificate@exam1.du.ac.in. The university has said that after the verification of the documents, the provisional certificate will be issued within 10 days.

Delhi University has issued several important guidelines for the students in the Open Book Examination to be held from December 12. DU has decided to put the mock test paper open book exam or OBE portal for students’ convenience. In the notification issued by DU about the open book examination, it has been clearly stated that the mock test papers of the students appearing for the open book examination will be put on the OBE portal one week before the examination.

On the dates of the main examination, the question papers of the related subjects will be put on the portal and according to the instructions, the students solve it and upload it on the portal. DU has also clarified that any kind of mail will be treated only from the official mail given by DU colleges to the students. Mail from any other mail will be ignored.

If you are giving open book examination from home, then you will not get the option of college

DU has clarified in its directive that the open book examination will be in two modes. A physical mode in which students have to take the exam while going to college and another remote mode in which they can take the exam from their home. Students who are appearing in physical mode can take the exam in remote mode but those who are appearing in remote mode cannot give it in physical mode.

DU gives 1 hour extra time to the students with disabilities for the Open Book Examination

DU has said that for the first time, by changing the instructions for the Open Book Examination, students will be given more facilities. DU has clarified that the disabled students will be given 6 hours this time, whereas this time was just 5 hours in the open book examination held earlier. DU has said that if there is poor internet connectivity, the student will also be given an additional time of 60 minutes although the review committee will evaluate those copies.

The masters’ copies will now be examined directly by the department

DU has instructed the departments to check copies of the students taking the open book examination of the Masters. Earlier departments used to make question papers, conduct exams and they used to go to the examinations department from there, those copies were given by putting fixation numbers and given to the departments of the subject concerned, but now this will not happen with copies of open book examination.

The student has to write his answer A4 paper only. Apart from this, it is necessary to write a page number on every page from its first page. Apart from this, on the first page it is mandatory to give the following information-

DU has released Google forms on Tuesday for spot admission. This form will have to be filled by those students who have not yet been able to enroll in the entrance examination course. Hence DU is getting those students to fill this form. For this, those students will also be eligible for admission, whose name came in the merit list released earlier, but they did not enroll. University of Delhi has released the list of names of extra-curricular activities. Until 28 November, the university has given time for redressal of student complaints. It is to be noted that DU enters ECA in 14 categories.

The University of Delhi has started the process to make the teachers of the colleges here their professors.

Many teachers consider it a gift to start before Diwali. More than four hundred teachers of DU affiliated colleges will become professors, which will also increase the number of students doing research. Not only this, there is also preparation for promotion of senior professor to the professors appointed in DU departments.

According to UGC rules, 6 researchers can do PhD in the context of 1 professor. Then as the seats are empty he can take the students. Not only this, these teachers of colleges will also get the same benefit of salary that the university professor gets.

The number of researchers in DU is small at present. Because most departments enroll researchers according to the number of professors, but with the increase in the number of professors in colleges, seats will now be increased for students of various disciplines for PhD admission. Not only this, the possibility of opening related subjects in colleges has also increased.

Earlier, few teachers were allowed to do research in very few colleges. Not only this, in colleges, the posts of Associate and Assistant Professor were appointed. But now associate professor having prescribed qualification of professor will be promoted to professor.

Dr. Balram Pani, Principal and Dean of Colleges of Bhaskaracharya College in DU, said that our effort is that if the teacher who fulfills the prescribed qualifications for the professor is going to retire in December, then he should be promoted as Professor in November. Teachers of more than four hundred colleges will get the benefit of becoming professors. The screening process has started. The college committee will be formed and will complete this process. This will increase about two and a half thousand seats for researchers.

Who will be able to become a college professor in DU

According to UGC rules, only those teachers of the college will become professors who will fulfill the qualification prescribed by UGC. The UGC brought the rules for this in 2018. Under this, publication of research papers, guidance of researchers for PhD and other qualifications. After this the selection committee will decide whether the prescribed teacher has the qualification of professor or not.

What is the situation now

Teachers of all colleges are not able to get Ph.Ds in DU right now, however, teachers who have applied for and got permission for their PhD in DU under their direction. He still does Ph.D. However the number of such teachers is not very high. Earlier, college teachers could not even get PhD.

The Non Collegiate Woman Education Board also released the third cutoff on Saturday. The board will admit it from 9 November. Even in its cutoff, the major colleges have not reduced the cut-off of BA program and BCom program. Miranda, Hansraj College and Jesus & Mary College have reduced the cutoff marginally. Its admissions will also be from Monday.

In the second cutoff, there has been a drop from 0.25 per cent to 7 per cent compared to the first cutoff. Students of Delhi are admitted in NCWeb related to DU. NCWeb has centers in more than 25 colleges of DU. All these centers issue cut-offs for admission in vacant seats there.

Under this, Miranda House College, the first cutoff for admission to the vacant seats of graduation in the academic session 2020-21, had issued a cutoff of 87 per cent for admission to BCom, but Miranda House fell by 0.25 per cent compared to the first cutoff. 86.75 percent cutoff has been issued for admission in BCom.

Earlier, Delhi University had released the first cutoff of Non Collegiate Woman Education Board (NCWeb) BA program and first cutoff of BCom Honors. This time in the B.Com program, the cutoff for Economics and Political Science Combination at Hansraj and Miranda House College has increased by 3% in the general category.

Both these colleges have a cutoff of 87 per cent of general category, 81 per cent of OBC, 78 per cent of SC, 60 per cent of ST, 72 per cent of PWD and 87 per cent of EWS in the combination of these subjects. Bcom has the highest cut-off in two colleges at 87 per cent. Last year, the cutoff in these colleges was 85 percent. This cut-off occurred at Miranda House and Hansraj College.

The results for the second semester of BA English (Hons), BA (Hons) Political Science, BA Program, BCom (Hons) and BCom for Academic Session 2019-20 were released by SOL on Tuesday, 3 November 2020.
